One of the most important gods in the Egyptian pantheon, Amun is depicted
as a bearded man wearing a cap surmounted by two tall plumes, a ram, a ram
headedman, or a ram headed sphinx.
He is believed to be the physical father of all Pharaohs, King of the
gods of Egypt.and Patron of the Pharaohs. Originally a god of fertility,
a local deity of Memphis. Amun became linked with the sun god Re through
the royal family, becoming Amun-Re.
To the Nubians he was especially worshipped as having been born in the
Sudan.
